The fall season is truly a magical time of the year. As the hot days of summer gradually fade away, the cool breeze starts to embrace us, and nature begins to paint the world in vibrant hues of red, orange, and yellow. There is something undeniably wonderful about this season that captivates our senses and fills our hearts with joy. From the changing leaves to the cozy sweaters, there are countless reasons why fall holds a special place in our hearts.
25 Reasons I Love the Fall Season
1. The breathtaking beauty of nature as the leaves transform into a kaleidoscope of colors. I live in an area where I am surrounded by nature's canvas of color every Fall when the leaves begin to change!
2. The crisp, refreshing air that invigorates my lungs during morning walks. There's just something about fresh, crisp, outside air that really wakes you up.
3. Leaves...so many falling leaves everywhere! And the joy of watching my child playfully jump into piles of fallen leaves.
4. The comforting aroma of pumpkin spice wafting through the air. This seems the season when you find (smell) pumpkin spice and cinnamon everywhere! And I love it!
5. The delicious taste of freshly baked apple pies and warm pumpkin spice lattes. Apple pies, pumpkin pies and pumpkin rolls are the official trademark desserts of Autumn.
6. Soft lighting and lots of candles! I love pairing candle-light with a creepy read. I love the cozy feeling of snuggling up under a soft blanket with a good book, and shadows flickering across the wall to set the mood!
7. The excitement of wearing fashionable scarves, boots, and sweaters. If you are anything like me, you have a complete collection of just-for-fall accessories that you just can't wait to pull out of hiding! With boots to match, too!
8. The anticipation of Halloween, with its spooky decorations and creative costumes. It's an adventure every Halloween season to pick out costumes, decorations and snacks with the family.
9. Annual trips to the pumpkin patch! Not only can you pick your own pumpkin straight from the patch, but you can paint it too! Lots of candy, a corn maze, playground, and mini petting zoo. I totally make a day of it.
10. The delight of indulging in caramel apples and candy corn. The trademark candies and snacks for every Fall. These old-time candies sort of remind you of old times, and the fact that no matter how crazy the world gets...some things never change!
11. The mesmerizing sight of migrating birds flying south for the winter. Seems every year, I somehow catch the ducks migrating.
12. Carving the perfect pumpkin! This is another fun activity I love doing with my daughter. She's actually much better at it than I am, but hey, it's all in the name of fun.
13. The thrill of haunted houses during Halloween. I love a good thrill, and there's none better than that of a good old haunted house.
14. The warm glow of bonfires and the crackling sound of burning logs. A few years ago I purchased an outdoor fire pit exactly for this reason! Not only is it beautiful against the night, but making smores and telling ghost stories around a bonfire is priceless fun.
15. The taste of warm apple cider, bringing a comforting sensation to our taste buds. Another trademark food/drink of any Fall season. Absolutely love some hot cider on those cool, crispy-leaf nights.
16. The Thanksgiving season. I love planning and cooking our family dinner. Not only does it feel wonderful to cook and serve for the family but I'm finding that each year, I seem to perfect my recipes just a little more. Not to mention the feeling of gratitude as we celebrate Thanksgiving, surrounded by loved ones.
17. The sight of squirrels scurrying around, gathering acorns for the winter. I have a huge tree in my yard that is populated with squirrels. This makes it extra easy for me to watch them collect nuts and play in the fallen leaves.
18. The excitement of football season, cheering for our favorite teams. Friday nights are made for football. And it's especially fun in a small town where everyone gets super excited about football games.
19. The beauty of sunsets, painting the sky with hues of gold and purple. There's just something magnificent about Autumn sunsets. They remind me of a Bob Ross painting, especially the way they glint upon all the deep, rich colors of fall.
20. The opportunity to capture stunning photographs of nature's fall transformation. I always make sure to carry my camera with me when I venture out on my fall excursions. Not only is the natural beauty amazing, but all the colorful fall decor makes for wonderful photographs.
21. The enjoyment of baking homemade pumpkin bread, cinnamon rolls and cookies. I love baking and this year I have a particular pumpkin cheesecake recipe that I've been holding onto just for this occasion!
22. The sense of renewal and change that accompanies the season. Autumn always signals the beginning of the end of a year. It's a time to reflect, renew, rest, and be hopeful for the seasons to come.
23. Horror movie marathons. This could be because I am a horror movie fanatic, but I think horror movies are a mainstay for most everyone's fall season. They go hand-in-hand with Halloween and creepy dark nights lit with jack-o-lanterns and scarecrows!
24. Hearty soups and stews. My favorite is beef stew. Coming in with a close second is creamy broccoli and cheese soup. But there's also chilli, chicken soup and potato soup (just to name a few). Not to mention the yummy variety of cheeses and breads to go with each one!
25. The nostalgic feeling of childhood memories, relived through the sights and scents of fall. It must be deja vu but one lovely, leaf-crunching fall day always seems to remind me of another. For as far back as I can remember, my autumns were a cozy time of leaf raking, close family meals, yummy snacks and drinks, and hope for better days.
26. Skirt, tights, sweater, and boots combinations! I absolutely love a cute pair of tights worn with some chunky platform sandals or cozy knee-high boots! Throw in the coordinating cardigans, jackets, and scarves and I'm in closet heaven!
For most of us (especially me) the fall season truly is a remarkable time of the year. Its beauty, warmth, and charm captivate our hearts and remind us of the simple joys in life. Whether it's the stunning colors of the changing leaves or the cozy feeling of sweater weather, there are countless reasons to fall in love with fall. As the seasons change and we bid farewell to summer, let us embrace the wonders of fall and cherish the memories it brings!
