HUGE Dollar Tree Self-Care Haul
I have had this post planned for forever and, this week, and I am thrilled to announce that I finally found the extra time (and funds) to dedicate toward researching and curating content for this long-awaited bargain beauty haul!
As women navigate the complexities of modern life, juggling roles such as motherhood, caretaking, homeschooling, and career responsibilities, it becomes increasingly challenging to prioritize self-care. Compound these responsibilities with additional unpaid roles, such as caring for aging parents or managing households as stay-at-home mothers, and the difficulty intensifies. In light of these challenges, finding both time and resources to invest in personal wellbeing becomes an overwhelming task for countless women who share these experiences. However, acknowledging and addressing the importance of self-care remains crucial for maintaining a healthy balance in life.
The notion of self-care is frequently equated with costly experiences such as spa treatments and salon services, leading many to view it as an unattainable luxury due to constraints of both time and finances. However, this perception is misguided; the advantages of self-care can be equally attained by indulging in a customized, cost-effective home spa experience utilizing affordable and delightful products readily available at stores like Dollar Tree or your other local department store.
By reimagining the concept of self-care and repurposing existing resources, utilizing cheaper products that are easily attainable, we can reap the benefits of rejuvenation and relaxation without straining our budget or schedule. Hence, the Dollar Tree self-care haul.
As a disclaimer, I just want to state that this self-care product haul took four trips to three separate dollar trees. I'd say 95% of the products in these photos came from the Dollar Tree.
Things shown but not from the Dollar Tree are:
-The interchangeable rose quartz face massager, Neutrogena face wipes (yellow package), wet wipes (purple package) and two tiny flavored body creams came from the bottom-dollar beauty sections at my local Walmart.
-The large wooden foot massager was purchased for $5 at Target
-A few of the large body massagers were purchased at the Family Dollar and Dollar General stores for less than $3 each!
Everything else came from three Dollar Tree locations, all three in different towns. After browsing the shelves of three distinct Dollar Tree locations across various towns, it became evident that each store indeed offered a unique assortment of merchandise and brands. Several items discovered at one location were not available at the other two. So, for those seeking to maximize their bargain-hunting prospects, I advise you to venture beyond the confines of a single store and explore multiple locations to benefit from an expanded range of available products!
My hope in creating this post is to debunk the idea that in order to take care of ourselves, we must be wealthy enough for over-priced, high-end beauty products or that we must have nannies and babysitters or child-free, job-free lives of leisure.
Just a warning, the rest of this post is photo-intense. I try to summarize the products in each photo. I may miss one or two. Sorry!
No spa treatment is complete without some fuzzy socks and slippers! And three small pocket-sized hand sanitizers (not shown).
I am a big fan of scented candles and tarts. I found a variety of scented candles. Two are in jars, two are not. Tea lights, and Wizard brand fabric spray/air freshener (it smells amazing). Cookie flavored tarts that smell heavenly. A cute little mirror to set a candle on. And yes, I did light one last night to see what it smelled like (it's lavender).
Products for my face include a gel face mask (get it hot or cold), eye massage wands, a rose quartz face roller, and a hot/cold compress (fill it with water and choose which you want).
More facial products. We have the massaging stone, the gel eye pads (I like to get these cold in the freezer and lay them across my tired eyes at night).
More facial products and serums. Two mist sprays for the face (in watermelon and cucumber flavors). Oil of Olay face serum, Ponds face and eye serum, L'Oréal wrinkle serum. And another tube of Ponds eye cream. Seriously, for just one dollar!? Also a beaded gel face compress (get it hot or cold). An 8-ball double-sided massager that you can snap across your hand. A jade face roller and an ice roller for massaging and relaxing your face.
I found so many lotions. As stated above, the two circular body creams at the bottom were $3 each at Walmart. The rest of these lotions came from the Dollar Tree. We have Dove moisturizer, coconut oil, coconut lotion, hand lotion, hand cream, foot cream, scented body lotion in various scents, vanilla body cream. Three small bottles of body spray in different scents. This is an amazing variety for just $1.25 each!
Moving on to the hair products. We have a volumizing brush with hydrating hair balm. Hair clips for styling. Two different packs of volumizing hair clips (clip your hair at the roots with these and blow dry).
More heat-free, damage-free products for styling your hair! I purchased two different sets of hair rollers. Actually, they had plenty more in various sizes, I just chose the two I liked most. I purchased three packs of each to be sure I'd have enough to roll all my hair.
So many massagers! As stated above, a few of the larger ones were purchased at Family Dollar and Dollar General for less than $3 each. The rest of the massaging rollers and back scratchers and hand-held massagers came from the Dollar Tree.
No beauty shopping experience is complete without a few new hair clips! I love these stylish little clips, from roses to pearls.
Nail polishes in a variety of six colors. Trust me when I say there were a lot of options for nail care and nail polish colors! From fake nails to pedicure sets and manicure sets. Tweezers, eye-curlers...the Dollar Tree does not leave out anything!
Here are the make-up products I chose. Eyeliners, brow pencils, lip gloss, lipstick, concealer, foundation, lip balm, mascara. You name it....the Dollar Tree has it! They had so much more, too. Everything from fake eyelashes to brow razors.
Here we have Neutrogena wipes and feminine wet wipes. Both purchased at Walmart for under $3 each!
No beauty haul is complete without a cute little shower tote. This one was $5 at Dollar Tree and was probably my most expensive product out of my complete haul! I've since filled it with everything I need for my bath/shower and it sits in front of the shower stall in the bathroom. I just love being organized!
One last little shopping spree at the Dollar Tree! I found some amazing pineapple scented volumizing shampoo and conditioner. Tropical scented body wash. Coconut scented body wash. Loofa back scrubber, shower pouf, shower pouf with a handle. A pack of make-up remover wipes. A pack of pantyliners. Another pack of pink face towels. A shower cap. A new brush and a new comb. An under-eye roller massager. A Vibrating cooling face massager that requires batteries. A lotion with lip gloss set. A stylish pair of fingernail clippers and toenail clippers. A plastic hand-held body massager. Two bottles of nail polish for a cute at-home manicure!
So, there you have it. My amazing, and affordable, self-care beauty haul chalked full of many $1 products. This is everything you will ever need for a home spa experience, and more!
If I had to estimate the cost of this haul, I would say less than $250 dollars. That's a couple of times eating out. Or a concert ticket. Or a few theme park passes. Or a night out on the town. Or, in my case, another fancy pair of shoes I do not need. So, yes, this is affordable and it is doable!
Honestly, I bought quite a bit. My haul was huge. You could reap just as much benefit even if you purchased only half of what I did. I purchased various wrinkle serums, lotions, soaps. I purchased things in multiples. You really only need one of each (lotion, serum, massager, etc) to enjoy a beneficial at-home spa session for yourself!
And don't forget to pour yourself a glass of favorite wine, or coffee or tea (whichever is your choice). Throw on a relaxing playlist and you'll be set!
So, go to the Dollar Tree. Bargain shop. And treat yourself, ladies! It's at-home spa day!
