The Mirror Disagreed
Every Tuesday, I post an art prompt to spark a little bit of inspiration for your creativity. These posts are versatile and can be applied to a variety of creative mediums. Whether you enjoy digital art or acrylic painting (or anything in between like tags, mixed media, collage, etc), these fun prompts will help you generate ideas for a new project, or maybe add a fun spin to a current project.
For this week, we are going to use the idea of the unfaithful reflection as our inspiration.
The Prompt: Use the statement "the mirror disagreed" as inspiration for creating an art piece. Show something and its reflection — and let the reflection tell a different story. It could be a woman reflected as the girl she used to be, a bare tree mirrored in a puddle still in full summer leaf, an empty chair whose reflection is occupied, a house reflected as the ruin it will become, a plain face reflected crowned. Let your interpretation lead you. Make sure your artwork includes something reflective (a mirror, a window, water, a puddle, the back of a spoon — whatever calls to you), and for a creative twist, change only one thing between the subject and its reflection. One difference, held steady while everything else matches, says more than a reflection that's gone entirely its own way.
This prompt is for any art medium or style.
My challenges and prompts are not interactive. You don't have to come back to link up. No comments are required, just your creativity!
