Secret Thresholds
Every Tuesday, I post an art prompt to spark a little bit of inspiration for your creativity. These posts are versatile and can be applied to a variety of creative mediums. Whether you enjoy digital art or acrylic painting (or anything in between like tags, mixed media, collage, etc), these fun prompts will help you generate ideas for a new project, or maybe add a fun spin to a current project.
For this week, we are going to use the idea of secret thresholds as our inspiration.
The Prompt: Use the statement "the door that wasn't there yesterday" as inspiration for creating an art piece. Where does it lead — and who is brave enough to open it? It could be a tiny door at the base of an old oak, a glowing keyhole in a brick wall, a wardrobe cracked open to reveal starlight, or something quieter and more symbolic — a threshold within yourself, a chapter you didn't know you were ready to begin.
Let your interpretation lead you. Make sure your artwork includes some kind of opening or passage (a door, gate, window, archway, keyhole — whatever calls to you), and for a creative twist, try playing with light: let whatever waits on the other side glow, spill, or leak through into the ordinary world.
This prompt is for any art medium or style.
My challenges and prompts are not interactive. You don't have to come back to link up. No comments are required, just your creativity!
